Trade War Might Affect BDS Application

Some business runners approached by the Global Times reporter at the CSNC expressed their concerns over the escalating China-US trade war.

"BDS itself is entirely safe from the trade war," said Chen Yingdong, deputy head of the big data of the expert panel under the GNSS and LBS Association of China - a no-profit organization in global navigation satellite system application and location-based service.

However, BDS application which is based on relevant software and hardware might be affected by US' unreasonable pressure on Chinese enterprises, he noted.

According to Chen, US database systems, for example those provided by Oracle, used to account for nearly 90 percent of China's geographic information, navigation and positioning service market, which posed a serious threat to the country's information construction.
